at primary school particularly we imbibed our culture, we did country dancing and sung traditional songs. Assembly every day taught us christian values which our teachers reinforced, as did our parents. Television was educational, it didn't teach us how to argue and be disrespectful. Children's programmes were presented by decent mature men and women who were good role models.
All that has gone, I weep when I consider the state of schools today, primary, secondary, state or private.

in the 90s all was forgotten we derived our pleasure through consumption. An outing was not to the countryside, a stately home or museum but to a shopping mall. Mothers dragged thair children aling and they learnt how to want things.
in order to rediscovered ourselves , someone who remembers who we are has to fix teaching and everything to do with our schools.

A friend used to work in the oil industry in Nigeria 40 years ago. He tells us that there were night classes on how to move to GB and how/what to claim on arrival. I suspect our stupid government now have TikTok videos giving easy to follow instructions.

We care about our animals enough that when our pets can no longer walk far, due to pain we still find ways to take them outside and bring them joy.

Why should we ask such questions? So we can be guilted into yet more societal changes in our norms or accommodate their complaints? No. We don’t need to as such questions at all. This questions hits the nail on the head with the whole problem we face. We should not have to ask others on how we run our country, our lives, how we like our communities.
Some who might push dogs in prams or in my case, carry mine in a backpack symbolise respect for the dignity of life. This maybe seen as a luxury to those from society where the creation of life is in abundance, but the respect for lives is in short supply and abuses, of children, and animals is rife. I will enjoy our luxuries whilst they last which I fear will be only a few short years as the small window of our moment in history of privileged wealth, abundant resources and considerate civilisation closes.
